Almost 5 months never touched my blog.
(Actually, I just updated another blog in Thai --> http://yakyuuyangyoon.blogspot.com/)
I have to apologize anyone who is still keeping looking to my blog.

Today, I want to finish my academic trip in the US by writing very short messages with some pictures. I would say it frankly that I had to read the postcards that I sent to myself 5 months ago to recall about this trip.

3 small cities I visited last January as below.

First city is Ventura. (Do you know the movie: Ace Ventura?? Is that this city's name?)
My conference was held in this smalll city at the hotel called Crowne Plaza located along the coast. Lots of people came to surf the board........





Second city is Santabarbara, small, nice and lovely city.
Many coffee shops, book stores, and unique and brandname shopping stores

The last one is Ojai, a very small town uphill.

These cities are fulfilled with European atmosphere due to its colony of Spain in the past.

Hollywood: The MOVIE world

After having had the 5-year US visa without any use until expiring in Feb 2005, I finally stepped on the land of freedom with its 10-year visa issued in Osaka in early 2007. And, it was Los angeles, the city of angel in spanish, being my first city in America. Actaully, the main reason for this trip was to participate a conference in Ventura, north of LA about 1.5 hr by car, but it started from Jan 7. So, we stayed overnight at LA first and it was Hollywood which was chosen by a professor in another lab who my lab friends and I sticked to. It would possibly say that Hollywood movies have much influence on lots of people in the world, also Thais. So, when I had stayed there, I can feel that I really get used to this kind of living style through thousand films that I used to watch so far. Because travelling is not the main reason for this trip and I cannot manage schedule on my own, so I had to follow others. So, I could just hang around Hollywood Blvd. which has footpaths with Hollywood movie and music stars in the stars as you might have seen on TV before, eventhough I really wanted to separately go in LA downtown and have cheap and yummy dinner at Thai town. The only surprise for me was that I hadn't seen any Thai travellers or residence during one day one night in LA, eventhough most Thai people in in the US live in this city.

A short message from Author

More than 2 months that I have not come to change anything in my blog.
Thank you everyone who usually comes to visit my non-updated blog.
Lots of things happened to my life during the year-end and let me think over again and again about my future life.
Life is not always beautiful and easy as one's thought, but we can make it pass thorugh.

Anyway, My journey must go on. Before the new year, I went skiing with always-warm Kyoto family, eventhough that was my worst experience for a ski field with grass and rain.

Then, I went to America for the very first time to join the conference called Gordon Research Conference (GRC): Hydrocarbon research. I went there for poster presentation and listening to several lectures in this field. This was also my first international academic conference experience. Many questions and thoughts popped up in my mind about how to be a good researcher and doctoral student in this acedemic field or Do I really suit to what I am doing now?

But, life goes on. I have 3 more years to train myself and time will proove it.

If I have time, I will come and update USA photos and story later.......
(Hope that it will be very soon..Haha)

ครบรอบหนึ่งสัปดาห์พอดิบพอดี สำหรับการทำรัฐประหารยึดอำนาจของคณะปฏิรูปการปกครองในระบอบประชาธิปไตยอันมีพระมหากษัตริย์เป็นประมุข หรือในชื่อย่อว่า คปค จากรัฐบาลของอดีตนายกรัฐมนตรีทักษิณ ชินวัตร จะไม่เขียนอะไรในบล็อกเลย ก็จะดูไม่อินเทรนด์กับเหตุการณ์ที่เป็นข่าวใหญ่โตไปทั่วโลก รวมถึงในญี่ปุ่นก็ขึ้นหัวข่าวเป็นอันดับหนึ่งคู่กับการได้รับเลือกตั้งเป็นหัวหน้าพรรคแอลดีพีคนใหม่ของนายชินโซะ อาเบะ แทนนายกรัฐมนตรีจุนชิอิโร่ โคอิสุมิ แล้วก็วันนี้เองที่ครม.ของนายกโคอิสุมิได้ประกาศลาออกทั้งคณะ และเปิดทางให้นายอาเบะ เป็นนายกญี่ปุ่นที่อายุน้อยที่สุดหลังจากสิ้นสงครามโลกครั้งที่2ในเร็ววันนี้ หรือว่านี่จะเป็นเพลาที่โชคชะตาท่านผู้นำผู้ทรงอำนาจในหลายๆที่จะต้องถูกผลัดเปลี่ยนส่งไม้ให้คนอื่น ไม่ว่าจะลงจากตำแหน่งอย่างสง่างามหรือไม่ก็ตาม

วันนี้เลยขอเขียนบล็อกเป็นภาษาไทย เพื่อที่จะได้แสดงความคิดเห็นส่วนตัวได้อย่างเต็มที่ในเรื่องของการยึดอำนาจของพลเอกสนธิ บุญรัตกลินในครั้งนี้ได้อย่างเต็มที่ ถึงแม้ว่าทาง คปค. จะออกประกาศให้แสดงความเห็นทางการเมืองอย่างเป็นกลาง แต่ผมว่าคนเรา ยากนักที่จะมีความเป็นกลางอย่างแท้จริง แต่เราจำเป็นต้องเลือกข้างอย่างที่อดีตนายกอานันท์ ปันยารชุนเคยให้สัมภาษณ์ไว้ แต่การเลือกข้าง ไม่ใช่ว่าเลือกอยู่ข้างใคร แต่ต้องเลือกอยู่ข้างความถูกต้องนั่นเอง หลายๆความเห็นทั้งจากสื่อต่างชาติ หรือบางประเทศ รวมถึงนักวิชาการรัฐศาสตร์บางส่วน อาจจะไม่เห็นด้วยกับการทำรัฐประหาร เพราะถือว่าเป็นการก้าวถอยหลังของการปกครองแบบประชาธิปไตย แต่ระบบการปกครองทั้งหลายก็มิใช่มนุษย์หรือที่สร้างขึ้นมาเอง การยึดถือระบบแต่เพียงอย่างเดียวโดยไม่คำนึงถึงหลักอื่นประกอบกัน เช่น หลักจริยธรรม หรือทศพิธราชธรรม ก็อาจจะมีผลทำให้คนบางกลุ่มเอาระบบมาเล่นเพื่อให้สร้างความชอบธรรมให้กับตนเองได้เช่นกัน

ถ้าจะถามว่าผมเห็นด้วยกับการทำรัฐประหารครั้งนี้หรือไม่ คำตอบแรกที่ออกมาน่าจะเป็นว่า รู้สึกตกใจที่ได้ข่าวว่าจะต้องเจอกับเหตุการณ์นี้อีกครั้งในยุคที่เทคโนโลยีพัฒนาก้าวไกล ผมยังจำได้เมื่อตอนป.6 ได้หยุดโรงเรียนเป็นสัปดาห์ เมื่อตอนที่คณะ รสช. ยึดอำนาจจากรัฐบาลพลเอกชาติชาย ชุณหวัณ ขณะนั้นมีแต่ความรู้สึกดีใจที่ไม่ต้องไปโรงเรียน แม้จะต้องฟังคนหน้าตาขึงขังมาประกาศทางทีวีอยู่เป็นระยะๆก็ตาม แต่จากจุดนั้นอาจจะเป็นจุดสำคัญที่ทำให้ผมเริ่มสนใจการเมือง แต่ติดตามข่าวสารทางการเมืองอย่างใกล้ชิดอย่างที่ทำอยู่ในปัจจุบันก็เป็นได้ คราวนั้นจำไม่ได้ว่ารู้ข่าวเมื่อไหร่ว่ามีการปฏิวัติรัฐประหาร แต่สำหรับคราวนี้นั้น คืนวันที่19 ผมกำลังนอนหลับอย่างสบายที่บ้านของโฮสท์แฟมมิลี่ กลางไร่นา ที่จังหวัดคาโกชิม่า ทางตอนใต้ของเกาะคิวชู แล้วจู่ๆตอนตีหนึ่งก็มีเสียงปลายสายจากเพื่อนที่เกียวโตดังขึ้น ยกหูรับโทรศัพท์ก่อนจะได้ยินว่า "ปฏิวัติแล้วๆ" ตาที่ยังปรือๆ เริ่มลุกโพลง แล้วถามถึงเหตุการณ์ว่าเกิดอะไรขึ้น ซึ่งขณะนั้นเป็นเวลาประมาณห้าทุ่มที่เมืองไทย เหตุการณ์ยังไม่มีความชัดเจนแน่นอนว่าใครเป็นฝ่ายทำการปฏิวัติ จากนั้นก็พยายามจะนอนหลับต่อ แต่สุดท้ายต้องโทรกลับบ้านที่เมืองไทยถึงสองครั้ง จนครั้งหลัง (ประมาณตีสองครึ่ง) ถึงได้รู้ว่า พลเอกสนธิ ได้ออกแถลงการณ์ของคณะ คปค.แล้ว จึงนอนหลับได้อย่างสบายใจ

ถึงแม้ว่าจริงๆแล้วก็ไม่อยากเห็นประเทศไทย โดยเฉพาะในเขตกทม.มีรถถังมาวิ่งป้วนเปี้ยนเต็มถนน เพราะมันให้ความรู้สึกที่ออกจะน่ากลัว เหมือนเป็นบ้านป่าเมืองเถื่อน(ตามที่ต่างประเทศมอง) แต่การทำรัฐประหารคราวนี้ กลับให้ความรู้สึกที่แตกต่างอย่างสิ้นเชิง เพราะทหารที่ทำการรัฐประหารในครั้งนี้กลับกลายเป็นความไว้วางใจที่ประชาชนส่วนใหญ่ในเมืองพอใจ เพราะหวังว่าความแตกต่างทางความคิดของคนในสังคมที่นำไปสู่ความแตกแยกอย่างกว้างขวางนั้น จะสิ้นสุดลงหรืออย่างน้อยก็ลดความรุนแรงลงไป ต้นเหตุทั้งหมดนี้มาจากบุคคลคนเดียวที่ทำให้สังคมไทยเกิดความแตกแยกอย่างที่ไม่เคยเป็นมาก่อน ผมคนหนึ่งที่ยอมรับในความแตกต่างทางความคิด แต่ไม่สนับสนุนให้สิ่งเหล่านี้เป็นความแตกแยกกัน ผมเองก็มีพี่ที่สนิทคนหนึ่งที่มีความเห็นทางการเมืองที่ต่างกัน แต่ก็สามารถทำงานร่วมกัน ไปเที่ยวด้วยกันได้อย่างไม่ขัดใจ

การที่บ้านเมืองไทยในขณะนี้ ดูเหมือนจะเป็นการถอยหลังเข้าคลองของระบบประชาธิปไตยอย่างที่หลายๆคนว่ากัน แต่กลับจะเป็นการเดินหน้าทางจริยธรรมและธรรมาภิบาลของผู้ที่จะเข้ามาเป็นผู้บริหารประเทศในอนาคตต่อไป จากนี้ไปคงต้องดูการดำเนินการของคณะทำงานต่างๆที่เกิดขึ้นในการตรวจสอบเอาความผิดกับรัฐบาลชุดก่อนได้มากแค่ไหนในเรื่องคอรัปชั่นซึ่งเป็นหนึ่งในเหตุผลหลักของการทำรัฐประหารในครั้งนี้นอกจากเรื่องความแตกแยกในสังคมไทยแล้ว เพราะถ้าหากไม่สามารถตรวจสอบว่ารัฐบาลชุดก่อนทำการคอรัปชั่นอย่างร้ายแรงจริง ก็เท่ากับว่า คปค. ไม่ได้ให้เหตุผลที่ถูกต้องพอที่จะทำการยึดอำนาจในครั้งนี้ เพียงแต่หวังว่าจะสามารถเอาผิดกับคนผิดได้ถึงต้นตอ เพื่อที่จะได้เป็นแบบอย่างกับนักการเมืองที่มักจะเข้ามาหาผลประโยชน์ต่างๆนานาในการเข้ามาเป็นผู้แทน หรือเป็นผู้บริหารบ้านเมืองให้ขยาดกลัวกับกฏหมายบ้านเมืองที่เอาผิดกับผู้ที่คิดชั่วเอาผลประโยชน์ใส่ตัว

จากวันนี้ไป ประชาธิปไตยในประเทศไทยจะได้เริ่มต้นใหม่อีกครั้ง ถอยหนึ่งก้าวเพื่อก้าวไปข้างหน้าอย่างมั่นคงและยั่งยืน ประเทศไทยคงจะต้องตอบโจทย์ว่าทำอย่างไรจึงจะสามารถสร้างความสมดุลระหว่างระบบทุนนิยมที่แพร่ระบาดไปทั่วโลกให้ไปได้กับเศรษฐกิจพอเพียงและมีธรรมาภิบาล เพื่อสร้างความแข็งแรงให้กับประเทศอย่างยั่งยืนทั้งทางเศรษฐกิจและสังคมวัฒนธรรม รวมทั้งการสร้างทรัพยากรมนุษย์ให้มีการศึกษาอย่างทั่วถึงพร้อมกับสนับสนุนการวิจัยโดยเฉพาะการเกษตรเพื่อที่ประเทศไทยจะได้ยืนด้วยขาของตัวเองได้สักที และรักษาทรัพยากรธรรมชาติอื่นๆของเราไว้และจัดสรรอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพมากที่สุด

This is one of the most peaceful and grateful coup d'etat that I've ever seen.
The democratic system is not always the final solution for the country.
The coup d'etat is not always the bad thing that will destroy the democratic system as well.

The system should be corrected if a person in power used it in the worng way.

The show must go on. Keep one step back for sustainable future.
I believe that the army of the king will do their best for our nation and people.

Miyabi Gang @Kumihama, The Sea of Kyoto

Kumihama Weekend Trip (2-3 Sep 06)
.เมื่อเด็กดอยจากบ้านมิยาบิ ออกเดินทางสู่ทะเลจะเกิดอะไรขึ้น โปรดติดตาม.

What is Miyabi?
- Miyabi is the name of my apartment which is actually 'Rakusai Miyabi Building' as its fullname.
Where is Miyabi?
- My apartment is located on Oenakayama, Nishikyo-ku which is a small area in the South-Western of Kyoto city. The nearest train station is Katsura St. of Hankyu line. It takes about 10min by bicycle or 25-30min on feet to Katsura campus, Kyoto University.

The Thais in Miyabi place had a great chance to run away from boring life in Katsura and tough reserch in the lab to 'Kumihama' (meaning to 'forever beautiful beach') which is the beach and bay located on the most North-Western of Kyoto prefecture as seen in the map below.

Why is Kumihama?
- Because Kimura-sensei, a high school principal in Uji, who is a leader of 'Kansai people who love Thailand club' has a house there which is his hometown. He asked me to take a short journey to his place in Summer, so I asked 6 members in Miyabi to take a rest there with Kimura-sensei.

Let's start the 2-day trip with me...

We left Miyabi Bld, Kyoto around 9.00 on Sat by Kimura-sensei's car. It took around 3-4 hours to reach Kumihama. After buying lots of food from the nearet supermarket to sensei's house for our dinner,we had a late lunch (sarusoba) around 14.00 at Kimura-sensei's place. Then, we took a rest for a while and went out to the beach around 16.00. Nobody was at the beach and the sea wave was very big and strong. We had lots of fun there.

After getting tired from jumping against the sea wave, we went back to the house and cleaned ourselves a bit before going to the hotspring (Onsen). At the onsen, there were also only us there, but the onsen was so good with an outdoor onsen. Afterthat, we prepared and had our BBQ dinner. Kimura-sensei brought one of very famous old Thai movie called Koo-Kum คู่กรรม เวอร์ชั่นวรุฒ-จินตรา, but the movie was fade away by our new activity, playing cards. We played cards until 4.30 in the morning.......

On Sunday, we woke up around 10am and then cooking our Brunch... It was so hot that day. Eventhoug Kimura-sensei asked us to go out to do something at the sea, we denied that and continued palying cards (haha) as if we live in different aparments. We finally left Kumihama around 3pm and reached Katsura at 7pm....
